Summer Blogging?

As everyone all knows, summer time is so close we can literally feel it. Honestly, I really am going to miss the people and SOME of the class. I am for sure going to miss this class though.

I was just wondering, are people going to keep blogging this summer? Should we update our blogs and stay in touch with one another? I actually want to keep my blogs updated. Like when I go visit Washington, and Jamaica and Volleyball and all that stuff. But I don't want to keep updating stuff if others aren't. I mean, I'm not the type to follow people but, I don't want to keep coming on and I'm the only one updating what is going on and what is happening.

So let me know! I don't want all my hard work to just sit on a website and get old, Hali doesn't go out like that;) lol I guess we'll see, I might be too busy to blog during the summer o.O

I hope I get Journalism next year, but if I end up not getting it, then I am going to come visit the class. lol

Well that is all for today, More later:)

End of the Year FEVER!

Every year around this time it seems as though students start to "fall off" so to speak, on their school work. It even happens to me! As the days get longer, weather starts to get hotter and the question of "What are you going to do this summer?" comes up, it's like we forget... we still are in school.

It is so exhausting coming home from a long, hot day of school to come home and do the same amount of homework that you were getting in the middle of the year. I know it's not exactly the teachers fault and what not, and I know they want us to be prepared and what not. But is so hard with all of the summer time distractions. This is always the time of the year where I seem to fall off with my school work.

So I just want to know, how do students continue to stay focus at the end of spring? I don't want to go to college with the same mentality that I have with high school. I want good grades in high school, but I want even better grades in college. But I just don't know how to focus myself at this time of the year.

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say because it has been on my mind since it started to get warmer. SO! THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY FOLKS! More 2morrow:)

Five Star Restaurant for a Five Star Chick:The French Laundry

The French Laundry in Yountville, California:

By far this is the most sophisticated, calm, and inviting restaurant that I would love to visit. Just the view of the restaurant is so inviting that you wouldn't believe that it is a five star restaurant. The thing that gets my attention the most about The French Laundry is that they have their own garden. So you know that their ingredients are always fresh. I respect their dedication to have their customers pleased. If I was to dine her I would come during lunch time to get the full feel of the relaxing and laid back atmosphere. I would most defiantly get the Chef's Tasting Menu. This includes:

“OYSTERS AND PEARLS”

“Sabayon” of Pearl Tapioca with Island Creek Oysters and White Sturgeon Caviar

SALAD OF FIELD RHUBARB

Baby Beets, Red Ribbon Sorrel and Hazelnuts

MOULARD DUCK “FOIE GRAS AU TORCHON”

Pickled Blueberries, Honey Yogurt, Tokyo Turnips, Marcona Almonds, Mizuna and Graham Cracker Sablé

( 30.00 supplement )

PIMENTÓN-CRUSTED PACIFIC KANPACHI

Manilla Clams, Fava Beans, Jingle Bell Peppers, Cilantro and Saffron Emulsion

BARBEQUED JAPANESE ANAGO

Eggplant, Compressed Cucumber, Red Radish, Hass Avocado and Petite Basil

MAINE LOBSTER TAIL “POCHÉE AU BEURRE DOUX”

English Peas, Cipollini Onions and Black Truffle

“ROUELLE” OF LIBERTY FARM PEKIN DUCK

Duck Confit, Melted Endive, Navel Orange, Watercress and “Sauce Hydromel”

MARCHO FARMS “CERVELLE DE VEAU”

Hobbs’ Bacon, Green Tomato Relish, Ramps, Garden Lettuce and “Ranch Dressing”

SNAKE RIVER FARMS “CALOTTE DE BOEUF GRILLÉE”

“Pommes Purée,” Nantes Carrots, Garlic Scapes, Arrowleaf Spinach and “Sauce Bordelaise”

ANDANTE DAIRY “CAVATINA”

Semolina Cake, Muscat Grape Jelly, Toasted Walnuts and Arugula

COCONUT MILK SORBET

Vanilla-Roasted Maui Gold Pineapple, Medjool Dates, Cashew Nuts and Candied Ginger

French Laundry Garden Strawberries, Dried Pistachio “Pain de Gêne,” and White Chocolate Sorbet

“SAVARIN AU CITRON”

Citrus “Vierge,” Per Mio Figlio Olive Oil and Straus Dairy “Crème Glacée”

MIGNARDISES

One reason I love this restaurant is because, just like the others, you order a whole meal. But you as you all know, good food cost money. This may seem like a laid back restaurant but the price is anything but. This menu cost $250 per person o.O But honestly I think it might be worth it. As much as I love food, I love money more. And spending money doesn't make me happy. lol

Anyway, that is all for today!

More tomorrow:)

Olive Garden: The Italian Expericance

Olive Garden is always the first place I think about when I want to go to eat. The atmosphere makes anyone feel like they are in a restaurant in Italy. Dimmed lights and soft music also adds to the the calm eating environment.

The authenticity of the dishes are great for people who loves meats, seafood, cheese, no-cheese, pasta or no-pasta. There is something good for anyone in your party. And with the great Olive Garden food comes the reasonable Olive Garden price. You can get the full Olive Garden experience even if you have twenty-dollars. And with an endless amount of Caesar salads and delicious Italian bread sticks.

Costumer service is also very great. It seems as though they only hired the best. The Olive Garden workers seem to always be at your service. Whether it is your waiter or waitress they seem to be always be there for help.

I give Olive Garden 5 out of 5 stars for working class people.

I think I might go there this weekend:)

Anyway, that's all for today, more on Monday!

Miss USA or Terrorist in Disguise?

Last night while watching Fox News (I don't know how it got on that channel) They described the new Miss USA Rima Fakih not only as a stripper, but also to be connected with terrorist in Iraq. Fox News also said that Rima Fakih is allegedly working with terrorist today.

Fox News needs to f***-off and leave this girl a lone. I say SO WHAT if she has a Muslim background and the last name Fakih. Look how many people have the last name Smith, (including me.. well kind of) that doesn't mean we are all related. I bet the people they connected her with doesn't even know who this girl is and could careless. She is a pretty person, and I bet she must have some kind of personality to be able to win a country wide contest.

It doesn't bother me that she entered herself in a pole-dancing contest. And that's probably just what is was a POLE-DANCING CONTEST. It doesn't necessarily mean she went all crazy and took her cloths off. People jump to conclusions before thinking things through.

And another thing! She is twenty-something years old. If she wants to live a little and go to clubs and whatever, let her. When has it ever been bad to go partying? I'm sure she was with her girlfriends and they had each other's backs while partying in (what looks like from pictures) a bar.

Just leave this girl a lone, she worked hard for what she got, and I don't think they should "decrown" her off of some b***s***.

Anyway, that's all for today. For tomorrow:)

SAT!

I'm taking the SAT on June 4th and I am very worried. Getting into college takes a lot of work, and I am worried about not getting a high SAT score to get into the college of my choice.

I decided I want to major in education, and I also decided that I don't want to stay on the East Coast for college. I have so many decisions to make.

At first, the idea of going to a state where I don't have many family members was cool, but after much thought, I don't want to be a lone during holiday's and birthdays, and I want to have the comfort knowing I have someone I really know to go and talk to when the college pressure really hits me. It's weird hearing people talk about how they went to go to a different state and lived in a dorm because it takes a lot of guts.
I plan on staying in a dorm no matter what college I plan on going to. But that's another thing I am worried about, what if my roommate is a total mess? or is racist? or smells bad? I don't want to share rooms.

I don't know. I've been thinking about it a lot. I guess it all starts with the SATs, so I'll cross that bridge once I get to it.

Anyway, that's all for today, more 2morrow.

Parent's Love

During the weekend I was thinking, WHEN IS IT INAPPROPRIATE FOR PARENTS TO STOP KISSING THEIR KIDS ON THE LIPS?

I get a lot of mix answers when I ask people this question. Some said up to 6 months and some said never!

I feel that if you are close to your parents it is okay, but some parents out there made something so innocent into something perverted and this action is now frowned upon. I still kiss my Mom on the lips and I kiss my Dad on his cheeks. While watching LisaRae the Real McCoy, LisaRae shows her love to her daughter by giving her kisses. Many reviewers found the motherly love she gives her daughter to be "disturbing" but I don't see it.

I think mothers and daughters can get away with the kisses more than daughters and fathers, or fathers and sons. But what is the age limit? Thinking back, I actually remember kissing my dad on the lips, but after 11 or 12 years old stopped kissing him on the lips. But many people still say it is inappropriate.

Let me know what you think! Because I don't find the weirdness in it.

That's all for today, more 2morrow!

BTW! TAKE MY POLL ON THE AGE LIMITATIONS FOR KISSING YOUR PARENTS ON THE LIPS!

Dear Editor: Miss USA 2010

The contestants for Miss USA 2010 had a photo shoot that showed off "too much" some say.

Over 51 of the contestants are out and many of the fans are upset about the amount of skin that is being shown.

Fadil Barisha called the photos too saucy for the competition. In my opinion I feel that the ladies who are competing in Miss USA are all old enough to be able to show off as much skin as the Miss USA will allow them. In other words, if they are allowed to wear swim suits that include two-pieces that would show off the same amount of skin, then these photos shouldn't be a problem.

Although the quotes under the photos from the Daily News website, it also seems a bit hesitant about the girls putting themselves out like that before the competition.

Whatever they are allowed to show on stage should be the same off the stage. I don't find any of the pictures too "saucy".

Dear Editor: Sex & Drugs & the Spill

In one of the New York Times Opinion section a columnist named Paul Krugman explains the way he feels about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. “Obama’s Katrina” is line from some pundits and news sources. Krugman also talks about how the Associated Press review of the Obama administration had very “little resemblance” to the response given to the Katrina disaster.

As a person who fully supports President Obama, I would have to agree with Paul Krugman 110%. Obama has seen what needs to be done, and has many troops, volunteers and environmentalist out helping with the devastating oil spill. And the fact that he jumped right on it once it happened (instead of waiting) he was able to let us know exactly what is going on in the water.

Krugman later on says “… there has been nothing like those awful days when everyone in the world except the Bush inner circle seemed aware of the human catastrophe in New Orleans.” Although I was very young (well kinda) when Katrina happened I do remember not knowing how bad things were until after wards. I would see people just begging for help that the Bush administration would not give to New Orleans and its survivors.

I do agree again when Krugman states that the only common thread that connects Bush’s Katrina to Obama’s gulf spill is “the collapse in government competence and effectiveness that took place during the Bush years.”

What I disagree with Krugman is when he says “It failed to require a backup shutdown system that is standard in much of the rest of the world, even though its own staff declared such a system necessary.” The hose did have a back up system just in case something happened and it would need an emergency shut off. But because of the explosion that happened, it potentially malfunction the automatic shut off system.

Well that is all from this story, for now. For tomorrow!

Dr. Oz on Nutrients

Lately I have been catching up on Dr. Oz (only because it comes on right after The Wendy Show) And I learned a lot of things. On thing I learned was to be careful on the Vitamins supplements, and Nutrients to get.

Case in Point:

  • Most supplements that claims to be good for you could actually do nothing, or worse be bad for you.
  • Vitamins are hard to find that actually work, the best choice to get is the old school Flintstones Vitamins (They work well for children and adults)
  • Having to much vitamins can also be bad; humans are meant to have a balanced diet.

Also if you are buying vitamins it is best not to buy it online, going in to a store where the pharmacist can talk to you about the ingredients in the vitamins and nutrients that you would get in powder or pill form.

Well that is all for today! More tomorrow.

Dear Editor: Immigration in Arizona

The police force are still rounding up many illegal immigrants who they say should not be in Arizona. The thought of the United States doing so much to keep immigrants out of the country seems to be very selfish and ignorant. One might even compare this "round-up" to what the Nazi Army did many years ago. The way Arizona is trying to control their is very unconstitutional and makes the United States more unlikable by many nations. It is understandable that some illegal immigrants cause trouble, and that's one of the reasons this movement has begun, but don't let one bad apple spoil the bunch.

There has been multiple polls asking New York Times readers to poll whether they believe other states should take the examples of Arizona and the results were very shocking to me. Over 75 percent of the people said they need to do the same in there city or state.

Personally, (as a person that lives in New York City) I actually appreciate the diversity in the United States.

I hope this bill doesn't go through.

Car Accidents like CRAZY!!

Since the invention of cars this has been a problem. It may not be the actual drivers fault and the people in the car isn't the only one who gets in car accidents. Most of the time it is actually pedestrians getting in the way of the drivers. Too many lives are being taken away from car accidents.

This morning a women died in a accident on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway. The accident involved two on-duty sheriff deputies who were in a patrol car. The sheriff's were all injured, but nothing life threatening.

The accident happened very early this morning, around 2:20am. The woman didn't die from the impact of the crash, after finding her way out of the disabled car she was then struck by on-coming traffic.

The cause of the accident is not available but is under investigation.

This story really hurts me because last year around this time a family member got in a car accident and died. He was only 18 years old and had a whole life ahead. He was getting ready to graduate from Bayside High School. When I tell people his story, they always assume "well he was a teenager, he was probably drunk or high" He wasn't. He simply didn't have his seat belt on.

It's very sad knowing he was excepted into the college of his choice and that he was such a great person.

It is very important to be care full while on the road. It is very dangerous, and it needs more than a lot of responsible people on the road.

I hope the family of this women is going to be okay.

Anyway, that's all for today. More tomorrow.

NASA Science Ballon Crashes!

A huge NASA balloon loaded with a telescope built to scan the sky at wavelengths invisible to the human eye crashed in the Australian outback on Thursday. The very massive telescope destroyed the astronomy experiment and nearly killed bystanders.
The expensive balloon while being loaded the balloon become loose from it's carriage. The balloon completely missed one car with two Alice Springs (The town in Australia) but turned another car completely over.

The balloon was carrying the Nuclear Compton Telescope (NCT) which is a gamma-ray telescope which was built by astronomer Steve Boggs and he colleagues at the University of California here in the United States.

Many astronomers who worked on the NCT were highly disappointed. After the massive crash they had to clean up after their hard work, picking up pieces to what could of been a great launch.

Luckily the crash of the telescope wasn't as bad as many thought. Most astronomers even said that the damage to the telescope can be fixed and making a new one is not necessary.

I hope everything goes well with the next balloon launch and maybe they will learn from their mistakes.

Well that's all today! More tomorrow:)

Oil Spill!

About a week ago there was an major oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The barrels that fell in and are leaking is said to fill an Olympic size swim pool in the matter of three-days.

Tons of oil is being wasted and more importantly, the 100,000 of different species that are living in these waters are being highly effected.

What happened was the barrels exploded and oil barrels fell in. The hose that connects the ocean floor to the barrels were designed to close itself off if anything happens. But the designers of this method weren't ready for the explosion.

When looking at pictures and videos you can see the red/burgundy residue from the oil spill that has risen from the bottom of the ocean.

Earlier today it was said the the oil has reached the shore, and this can cause even more problems for wild life that live around the shores.

The oil drilling is coming to a break and will not be drilling any more until they get this problem fixed.

As a person who wants the natural habitat to stay the same for the animals, it really does break my heart knowing that we are causing them so much stress. After all, they were here first. I hope they clean up as much as they can and I hope the animals that are living the the Gulf of Mexico are going to be okay.

Arizona Immigration

The Governor of Arizona is declaring a Immigration law that allows police officers in Arizona to question those who look like illegal immigrants. This is also called SB1070.

In my opinion I think this is going to cause more problems with crime. It is asking for more immigrants not to speak out if they see a crime because they can get deported themselves! This seems like it will also have police officers busy with finding immigrants than their real job, to stop criminal activities.

It doesn't make sense that you would have to go through all that trouble of catching a bunch of illegal immigrants to have them deported when you can bring real crime offenders to jail.

Another thing I was thinking about is how they would feel not being allowed into our country, but we as Americans go to Cancun, Mexico all the time and we are making a big fuss over it.

I have a feeling that soon Mexico is going to fight back and not allow U.S. citizens into Mexico. Then what?? We are going to have to spend our spring break somewhere less fun.

I don't know, I just really don't think it is right and I hope that SB1070 doesn't get passed as a bill.

Earth Day!

Today we celebrate Earth! And many students today are wearing green (my favorite color). And of course I also so have the green on because when it comes down to it I really love earth. I try and do things in my life to eliminate humans destruction to the earth (basically I try not to make a big carbon footprint).

Things I do in my life to conserve the Earth and Mother Nature is:
  1. Using a renewable water bottle. As a person who like to drink water everyday, buying a new water bottle every time is costly and harsh to the environment if it's not recycled properly.

  2. Throwing garbage, in the garbage. As a New Yorker I know it may be difficult to not litter. But little things like just holding your trash until you see a trash can is the difference from decaying Ozone layer to preserving what we have.

  3. Commuting. New York is know for all of its traveling abilities. Taking the bus, train, carpooling, dollar vans and so on is better than having every one driving. One less vehicle on the road really makes a difference.

  4. Recycling. Being responsible and knowing what to recycle is a great way to preserve natural resources. My family and neighbors all recycle and it is as easy as just having a second trash can in the kitchen.

I'm not really a full on "tree hugger" as they would say, but I know it is a good thing to recycle and be a responsible human, we've already done so much damage. It's the least we could do.

Happy 4/20! lol

Every 4/20 we celebrate Marijuana:) I like to say it's Marijuana's Birthday. lol

Many people wonder why Marijuana is illegal, and that's hard to say. I know that it has been illegal for only 1% since discovered when the first settlers came to America.

According to Peter Guither at DrugWarRant.com, explains that the criminalization of Marijuana came from racism, fear, protection of corporate profits, Yellow Journalism, ignorant, incompetent and/or corrupt Legislators, and personal career advancement and greed.

For the longest time I really did think that it became illegal because of some foresting company fearing that Marijuana would take over the lumber business. Hmm, maybe a rumor??

While reading through the website, I came across a man names Harry J. Anslinger. He discovered the Bureau of Narcotics, and since cocaine wasn't giving him enough money, making Marijuana illegal was his next move. He did this by making Marijuana a race and violent issue. He was quoted saying statements such as: "Reefer makes Darkies think they're as good as white men" and "Marijuana is the most violence causing-drug in the history of mankind"

Hmm, he must be high. In my opinion (and this just might be me) but "Darkies" are as good as a white man, if not better. And! how could Marijuana be "the most violent causing-drug in the history of mankind" when cocaine can cause more damaging effects??

I honestly don't thing Marijuana is as bad as people say it is. I can really relate to Marijuana in the sense that people mistake it for something bad before giving it a chance. As a Black person I see (and get) that kind of thing many times. I think if Marijuana was a real person, she would be Black. lol ;)

lol well, that is all for today, for where I got my information go to: http://www.drugwarrant.com/articles/why-is-marijuana-illegal/

HEY I'M BACK!!

Before we start, I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my boyfriend GABRIEL:) He turned 17 today.
BIG UP ARIES!
I went on a little "Blogging Break". And since my mini hiatus, not much really happen.

Last Friday was the International Festival, here at Van Buren. It was very fabulous. The energy was very live. And for those who didn't go, you missed a lot. From the West Indies to Africa, to Mexico, to India and even Australia! This was an event that was worth seeing. And did I mention all the food they was giving out... FOR FREE!! Yup, I said it. Shootings over Easter Break

This was one of the most disappointing news I've read about in a long time. It's sad seeing young black males being so stupid about their lives and the lives around them. They are such good looking and hansom males, and look what they are doing to themselves.
What I was wondering is why were they out on a day where you are suppose to enjoy with your family? Causing all this trouble, for what reason?
I heard that this has become an annual thing to do in Manhattan. I've even heard it was gang affiliated.
SMH.
For those who really know me knows that I find being in a "Gang" a waste of time. I understand people are suppose to feel like their fellow gang members has their back and blah blah, but I don't understand why you can't just have a simple group of friends and family that would do the same.
I honestly feel that New York City would be such a better place without the worry of "if I stay out too late I might get shot by some gang members..." That's how I feel all the time. I love going to Manhattan and just chill with my sisters and friends. But since it's so dangerous I know my parents are at home worrying themselves silly about me being shot by some stray bullet or something.
Any way, I'm getting off topic.
I feel bad for the parents of these young boys. And I feel bad for the boys who think this type of actions are "fun" or "cool".
SMDH
(Shaking My Damn Head)
Anyway, that's all for today. More on Monday:)

WANTED: Flamin' Hot Cheetos

Since my move to New York City I have yet to find a store that sells one of my favorite chips. Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Yes, I have seen the generic flamin' fries from other companies but, no; I don't like those. I want the regular Hot Cheetos. I thought it was weird that I don't see them, and people always say they see it, BUT I DON'T!! So if you see the Flamin' Hots, regular or lime. Please let me know where to find it. I would greatly appreciate it. They are a must have for my summer vacation, because summer isn't summer for me if I don't have my Flamin' Hot Cheetos. :(

Remember when...

Today during lunch my friends and I reminisced on the old days when we were a lot younger. So I thought a good blog for today is remembering the good ol' times

Remember when:
  • You way of entertainment was actually going out side and playing double-dutch or playing basketball...
  • When the girls in the video actually looked real...
  • When the "Alicia Keys" hairstyle with the braids and beads were in...
  • When the jeans were hi-waist (compared to now)
  • When on a hot day the only thing to do was wait for the ice cream truck to come around...
  • When the people at the corner store actually like when you came in...
  • When $.50 sodas was a way to cool down when that's all you could find...
  • When you had recess in the middle of the day...
  • When TLC and Destiny Child was at their prime (NO MORE SCRUBS, BILLS BILLS BILLS)...
  • When you would wear bubbles in your hair with braids and clips...

I'm pretty sure there is more... but, I can't think of more. I know there is a lot missing from the list. But you get the gist of it.

Things changed a lot. And although it might be for the better, I still miss those days in Brooklyn chillin' on the cement steps during the summer. It's kinda sad but, you gotta' move on. (I wish I was young forever)

Let me know if there is things I'm missing.

Anyway that's all for today.

Let him go to Africa if he wants to go!

Collin Carlson is a 13 year old boy who is a sophomore at the University of Connecticut. *Snaps for Collin* He is seeking a degree in ecology and evolutionary biology. His class course is taking the student to South Africa for a summer field work. University of Connecticut AKA UConn, rejected his request to go. His mother, Jessica Offir, offered to sign release forms and liability forms and even chaperon him on her own expenses. But UConn still will not let him go. C. Carlson says "They're upsetting the framework of one of my majors."

I think UConn should totally let him go. He worked just as hard as everyone else. And if his mother says she would pay her way so that her son can go, then let them go! He is a super smart kid. And one day he will save the world. They should just let him go. He deserves it. I don't understand why UConn is making things so difficult for him and his mom.

And when asked about it, Micheal Kirk, a spokesperson for UConn would not comment.

Collin Carlson has filed a age discrimination claim with the university and U.S. Department of Education.

YOU GO COLLIN!!
I hope all goes well with this.

Anyway, that's all for today. More tomorrow,

Vote Ewers!! For Consulative Council :D

This year I am taking the chance of putting myself out there for Consultative Council here at MVBHS. Even though this is my first time at this school, I have a strange feeling I might get it. But then again I have no clue.
I already filled out the applications, my 250 petitions, papers signed by my parents and the 3 letters of recommendations. But now I have to write the speech (how dreadful). I have the ability to write a juicy essay/speech but I have a feeling students aren't going to even read it because it's too "long" (students don't even like reading my blogs because of the length) The problem for me is that I don't know how to get the attention of the students. And since high school students have the attention span like a fish, having it long is just a waste.
Another thing I'm worried about is seeing people throwing my work away or something like that.
I'm going to honestly say I am very nervous about election time. I don't want to feel like my hard work went to waste. hmm, I don't know.
I already started my essay/speech last night and I have about 2 1/2 paragraphs and they are good. Not too complicated but just enough so it doesn't sound too "ABC" if you know what I mean. lol

Well that's all I want to talk about today, oh and that New York City is showing more and more signs of spring. (Besides yesterday) and it is making me more and more happy. I wish I have something to do this spring break.

That's all for today, more tomorrow!

and if any one is doing something cool this spring break and would like some extra company, I'M FREE:D

I found the place where I am going to shop:)

As many already know, I just moved here from Washington state, or should I say Seattle, Washington for clarity. And since I've been here I really don't know where to go to buy my cloths and I end up going all the way to Brooklyn (because I lived their before I moved to Washington) But getting my dad to go all the way to Brooklyn for a new shirt and a pair of shoes is a hard thing to do.
I always heard of Queens Center Mall, but I have never been there, until Friday after the half day that is.
I am excited that I know how to get there also, and it didn't brake my pocket (Thanks Student Metro)
Anyway my point is that I found a place closer to home where I can go to buy spring and summer clothing. Just in time too.
The stores that I was most interested in at QCM was H&M, Urban Outfitters and American Eagle. In Washington I didn't really shop at those stores, (because of the prices) and H&M opened up around the time I was leaving. But this year I feel I deserve some new cloths, so I am making it my mission this summer.
I also want to dress more "girly" this summer. Dresses and skirts is what I have in mind. I'm going to give up the Levi jeans for a little once the weather gets better. But I am defiantly not going to stop wearing my Vans. How could I?? They are my trademark. lol

SO YUP! I am very happy I found a place where I am going to shop:) I am very happy.

That's all for now, more tomorrow.

OH I ALMOST FORGOT!!

I know this has nothing to do with what I was talking about but I have got to tell you what I saw this morning!!

Driving to school today, I was by the Wendy's light and I look to the right and there is this lady casually laying in the grass with a sweater and tights smoking a cigarette in the rain!! WTF!! If I was in the passenger seat I would of totally taken a picture to show you guys. It was the weirdest thing I seen today. She was just laying there in the rain facing the street. AM I THE ONLY ONE TO SEE THIS LADY?? Oh man. Weird people nowadays.

anyway,

Just because it's a half day doesn't mean there is no school!

Today is a half day again here at MVBHS and I gotta' tell ya', not many students are here today. (What a surprise right?)
I don't understand why they wouldn't want to come to school. What's at home that's so great? Yeah, I understand you get to sleep in, but why waste such a nice day sleeping? I say go outside and feel the sun on your skin and the wind in your hair (or weaves lol) Just get out of the house in generally.
I'm not sure what guys do when they don't come to school on a half day I always imagined them playing on their Xbox 360 with their underwear on, eating cheese puffs. HA! (Correct me if I'm wrong fellas)
And I really don't know what girls are doing. But I've notice (as I sit in my 9th period class blogging) that more girls than guys came to school today. That's actually kind of int resting. And I wonder why that is. hmm...
OH! In honor of how beautiful today is and that it is a half day, I am actually looking really girly today. (and if you didn't come today you missed a once-in-a-blue moon thing for me)

Well that is all for today, more on Monday (which I hear is going to rain)

Wow, How appetizing.

So for those who go to MVBHS you probably know where I'm going with this story. And if you don't know I will LOVE to tell you.
I am a student who goes to MVBHS. And although it isn't the greatest school it's actually okay. Except the lunch room AKA The Cafeteria.
I'm not gonna' lie the school's food really isn't that bad. But what I don't understand is why the lunch room is so DIRTY! Don't get me wrong, I totally do not blame the janitor for the way the cafeteria looks. I fully blame the students.
What I don't understand is how you would through a whole lunch under the tables or poor a whole serving of chocolate milk on the floor. (WHAT THE HELL IS GOING THROUGH YOUR HEAD!?) There are more than enough trash cans in the lunch room.
It's so disgusting and it makes it hard to eat in the cafeteria. It already feels like your in a dark basement. Why would you want to be in a dirty, dark basement; to eat lunch? I don't get it.
I feel that the actions we do in school really portrays to how we are going to act as an adult. So when I see people just tossing food on the floor when there is a trash can 5ft away it really does get me thinking. Is this the kind of action that someone who doesn't care about global warming does? And Why are you wasting food?
I wish some one who has some authority to change this will recognize that this isn't the type of environment anyone needs to be in. I think the students will actually like the change. They might not say it, but I'm 100% sure they would defiantly like the change. Hmm, maybe if I make Student Consultative Council I will talk to the principal about finding a solution.

Well that's all for today! More tomorrow!

The Bigger the Better! 10 Steps for Volumized Hair!

As a big fan of good hair styles, one thing I absolutely love to see done with a girl's hair is lots and lots of volume. I get many people (guys and girls) who are always complementing how much volume I have when I wear my hair down.

Many girls are afraid of looking stupid with poofy hair, but I say the bigger the better. I understand that with relaxed hair it is hard to do anything with besides the regular ironed straight hair. But it's a breath of fresh air to see something different.

SO! For all those who wants to know how I get my hair so pumped up the way I do I will tell you!

1. I wash my hair once a week (every Sunday) on my own. I like to use LOTS & LOTS of conditioner. Motions shampoo and condition is what I prefer for relaxed hair.

2. I use a leave in conditioner and comb my hair out, preparing it for wrapping.

3. I wrap my hair using wrapping moose and make sure it is as tight as possible

4. Go under the dryer (I have one at my house) and wait until it is completely dry. Once dry, spray your hair slightly with Motions Oil Sheen Hair Spray. DO NOT DROWN YOUR HAIR WITH THE OIL SHEEN!

Depending on when you need your hair done you can comb it out and straighten it. But since I like to have my hair fresh for Monday morning, I tie my hair with a SILK scarf and then do steps 5-10 the next day.

5. Comb out the wrapped hair and get your flat iron ready

6. While straightening your hair make sure your not just going straight down. "Bump" the hair until you reach about the crown of your head.

7. Once at the crown, try and curl the pieces of the hair in big chunks. (It really doesn't need to be perfect)

8. Style your bangs how ever you want and then proceed to comb the curls out.

9. When combing the curls out DO NOT COMB STRAIGHT DOWN! Comb out and away from your head. This will give your hair some bounce.

10. Spray your hair with some oil sheen (not too much) and fluff with the fingers

Now you are looking like a Super Model!

WORK IT GIRL!!

EWERSTOBLAHG..BLOGSPOT.COM #32

At my site you can defiantly expect some kind of story about entertainment, fashion/clothing, news, relationship and polls. I like to stick to those topics because that is what I enjoy talking about.
What I talk about is usually some crazy story or fashion mishap. But that is what I like.
It's funny what people try to get away with. LMAO!
I don't always talk about fashion and entertainment. I like finding crazy/funny real life stories.
I like to say my opinion but I am very open to any kind of rejection people might have about my blogs. Although my blogs are a bit longer than most, you will find that I say things that really get people thinking.
I also like to include polls about teenage things. Examples of old polls includes "Where do you plan on going to college?", "Are you sexually active?", and polls directed to guys only like "Do you honestly find baggy jeans attracted on girls?".
I also like to ask my readers direct question about what they think.
No matter how ridiculous it is.
So check me out:)

My name is Mahalia and I'm a Facebook Fanatic..

I recently started (very recent) a game on Facebook called Resturant City. And I can not get over it.

What is Resturant City you may ask? It's a little virtual resturant were you design what you want your resturant to look like (inside and out). From the name of the resturant to who you have working in there.

It is soo cool to me! lol The people you can have working in your resturant are your friends on Facebook. It's so enjoying for me to watch. Oh! how could I forget. You can have everyone in your resturant wear what ever you want.

I'm not as leveled up as most people to have a very big staff, but I "Hired" my cousin Kiki, my good friend Adrienne and my boyfriend Gabriel to work with me. HAH! They all have matching shirts (Black short sleeve button up w/ a red tie) And for the girls I have them wearing a red skirt to match.

I have no idea why I am so addicted to this game. I actually woke up early this morning to make sure my workers are fed to make some more money.

It's nice to play to kill time while you wait for someone to come on or reply to a message. Or just play for the hell of it.

It's been on my mind since I left for school. I know, I need help.

At least I can admitt my problem. lol So don't judge me!

LMAO

Hurry! I need a tan! ASAP!

Spring/Summer needs to hurry up and come. I am so light I don't like it at all. I really can't wait to go to Jamaica and just lay-out in the sun. I'm so desperate for sun I'm actually considering the tanning booths. I know, I know, It's not good for your skin and you'll get skin cancer and blah blah. But I just LOVE the feeling of sun on my skin! And I love how dark I get.
I know many people (mostly girls) don't like getting darker in the summer, but every summer I make it my mission to get as dark as I possibly can. It's hard to explain why. But I love how I look.
SUN HURRY! I NEED A TAN! ASAP!
And when the weather gets better I plan on wearing more "girly" clothing. Like nice summer/spring dresses and things like that. Oh! and Capri's, I love those. And the Bermuda shorts. :D AHH! spring/summer fashion is my absolute favorite. It's like anything goes if you know how to wear it properly.
But one thing I really dislike summer for is that SOME girls take it way too far. (You know who I'm talking about!) And it's funny because you can spot the girls BEFORE spring/summer comes. It's them girls that tries to wear shorts, or skirts just because the weather man says it's going to be sunny. Like it's not still under 60 degrees outside.
I KNOW WHO YOU ARE!! lol

Anyway, that's all for today, more tomorrow.

If I'm not what your looking for...

I know I don't touch on everything you are interested in, but if you like sports, technology or different things from a Male's point of view keep reading for what blogs I would recommend.

For Sports...
www.rockstar-100.blogspot.com
RockStaR100 is the website I go to for the latest news in sport. He gives the run down in a language I can speak. lol Nice and simple but gives enough detail not to leave you hanging on stories. He doesn't always have sports too. This site gives a wide range of entertainment and current issues. Check him out.

For Technology...
www.jmblogger-latestgadgets.blogspot.com
Jmblogger is a great place to find technology. He always has new things I haven't even heard of. He describes the technology, how it works, and if it is a good product or not. Another thing that I love about Jmblogger is that he includes pictures. Almost all of his post has a perfect visual for better understanding of what he is blogging about. You can totally tell he loves technology and that is what makes it that much better.

For different things from a Male's point of view...
www.stevetlksaboutent.blogspot.com
This website is interesting for me because he almost talks about the same things I talk about (almost) He is giving the latest in entertainment, sports, current events and more. I like it because everything is new. Things that I didn't know always comes up. He gets you thinking outside the box a little more. And of course he puts his opinion. It's cool.

Well those are some of my recommendations! Those websites are the ones I tend to visit more than others because it can hold my attention.
Here it is again!
That's all for today! Don't forget to check them out! AND

A few crazy stories that I've been hearing about #30

  1. Have you heard about D'Angelo?? Well I did. lol Dude got locked up for offering $40 for oral sex from a undercover police officer. How sad, back in the day with the body he HAD he wouldn't have to pay for something like that. LMAO! And what makes this story more crazy is that he had over $1,200 in his Range. Very weird story; Very weird story indeed

  2. Have you heard about the 32 yr old women who delivered her own baby? Well she did! lol the story is that she didn't know she was pregnant and while doing laundry she had her baby. She even cut her baby's umbilical cord. BUT IT DOESN'T STOP THERE!! After she delivered her baby she went and picked up her son from school and visited her mom to show her the new baby. AFTER ALL THAT!! She went to the hospital. GANGSTA!

  3. LIL WAYNE WENT TO JAIL!! (finally) I'm not the biggest Lil Wayne fan, but I don't not like him (you know what I mean?) But yeah he is in jail off some s**t he could of avoided. But he is only human. lol I heard he had to take his grill out. GROSS!! It was probably rotten and stuff. yuck. I hope he aight though.

That's all for today!! more 2morrow:)

Celebrities: Good or Bad? #29

I believe celebrities have a very big impact in American culture. Whether it's good or bad is a decision a person would have to make on their own. Since entertainment has been out, so have celebrities. Idolizing people for their talent is nothing new for anyone. Most of us look up to celebrities, and most of us don't.

From the days of acting, and performing in general, celebrities are known all over. For example, William Shakespeare, one of the greatest play writers who died over 100 years ago, and we still use some of his terms today. "I couldn't sleep a wink" sounds familiar? It actually came from one of Shakespeare's plays. Shakespeare had an big impact in the world and he still does.

Now I know that wasn't the greatest example because it was a bit "out dated" so a more modern example would be someone like Tina Turner. Tina Turner is a singer known world wide. She was (and still is actually) one of the greatest singer/performer from the early 50s and she still performs her hits as a "women of particular age". We look up to celebrities like Tina Turner because she shows women what it looks like to be a powerful women. Tina Turner, coming from an abusive relationship where she was raped and treated horrible. Many women relate to a person like Tina Turner because they can say "Well if she made it, I can too" She is looked up to, not only as a singer and song writer but also as a strong women.

On the other hand, celebrities can be looked at as a stereotype. For example, when you think of rapper you would think of baggy cloths, explicit lyrics, and most likely a black person. The look of the "rapper type" shed an harsh light on the way Black males are portrayed. Not every Black male looks like Flava Flav LMAO (that's a bit extreme, but sometimes extreme opens eyes) Another stereotype is for the white people. I think it's messed up that when you think of social lites such as Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Brittney Spears also have a pretty bad stereotype for white people.

Anyway you look at it celebrities can be good or bad. Personally I just embrace that celebrities are always going to be a topic of discussion if you like it or not. And it's funny because even people who don't like celebrities are still keeping up with what they do, so they could talk s**t about them later. It's funny how that works. Love them or Hate them, they are here to stay.

Anyway, that's all for today, more tommorow!

MY WEEKEND!!

It seems as though I hardly talk about myself on my blogs so I am today. Not my life story, just about my weekend;)

Saturday morning I woke up at 9 sharp. Got dress and went jogging (remember I'm getting fit)

Afterwards I went home, took a shower and got ready to go to Brooklyn to stay the weekend. I was allowed to drive from my house down Springfield and to the highway (I can't drive on the high yet). I got to my grandmas house and watched ABDC until 6pm. Then my cousin (Ziki) came over and we went to Bobby's to find a comforter. When we got there, there were no comforters in our price range. So we left and when on Church ave looking for a comforter. We were out walking up and down Church for almost three hours. And right at the last minute when we were about to give up, we found one. So we bought it and had to walk all the way to her uncles house on Caton.

(My legs still hurt from all the walking)

So the next morning I woke up and did my little sisters laundry and got ready for my day. Around 3pm Ziki and I went out again. We went to her house and dropped something off, and got money from her dad so she can get into the movies. Then we got some thing to eat and met up with my other cousin (well close friend) Nakai and went to see Brooklyn Finest which was really good.
I honestly had a good time. It was good, clean, fun, and it was nice to catch up with family. I had a ball. LMAO!!

That's All for today! more tomorrow!!

Brooklyn's Finest the Movie

WOW!! I seen this movie last night at the movie thearter on court street (Brooklyn). I paid for the Percy Jackson, but snuck into Brooklyn's Finest. I would definatly recommend this movie for people to see. It will make you laugh, it will make you go "OH S**t!" (in a good way). I don't want to give away the end but it really isn't what you expect to happen.
Okay here is the run down. It's about 3 cops who all don't know each other. Most of the cops are crooked. But in the movie they would pass by each other. It's weird and cool at the same time. Most of the movie takes place in Van Dyke (says Randy).
Go and see it. I swear it will not be a waste of money. GO SEE BROOKLYN's FINEST!
That's all on this topic:)

What happened to The Pack??

I love The Pack's music. But for the past few months (almost a year) I haven't heard anything from them. Around the time they came out there music was always on the radio and it was on every ones iPod. I did too! But since I always have people put music on my iPod for me, they never put them on. I've lost the sensation for The Pack. I actually miss listening to their music.

Another crazy thing is that I don't listen to rap like that anymore. Any I never know when new songs are out.

Why I'm not into rap any more you may ask? Well I don't like 106 & Park, and I never really did. Another reason, I have over 1000 channels, I really don't have the patience to look through all of the channels to find the music station that also plays videos. And lastly, I'm not a big fan of Hot97.

Don't think I'm not trying listen to it, because I love me some good raps. I (sometimes listen to 105.whatever it is) But for the most part I've been just listening to KTU. The music they play is the stuff I like listening to. And I love that they play the older songs.

But I'm getting off topic. The Pack. What the hell happened to them?? I want them back. I try looking for new songs from them, but I don't see them. PACK COME BACK!!

Any way, that's all for today, more later!

Damn, Naomi. You making sistahs look bad.

Now I've heard multiple stories about this model. Honestly she is a beautiful girl but, I don't think everything is all straight up stairs if you know what I mean.
She is so pretty with such a nasty attitude. It seems as though she furthers the stereotype of black women having attitudes. And doing everything through violence. Also, I don't like how celebrities are going out there doing illegal things and thinking they can get away with it all the time. Not to seem messed up but, Naomi Campbell is a regular human just like the rest of us. The only difference is, she has a higher paying job which allows here to be well known.
I just want to say for all the celebrities out there: No matter who you are and what you do, people are looking up to you! If you are you are in the media, please be in the media for something positive. (Especially if your Black)
In a way I care about the image she gives black women but then again, I really don't give a f**k about her. She is a grown women and she should know her ups from her down and her rights to her wrong. That's all I have to say about that.
Anyway, more blogging from me later.
