Last night I have got more information about the earthquake in Haiti. So it has been confirmed that it didn't happen off the coast of Haiti and that it actually happened in a city in the western area of Haiti. This is a sad moment and time for many people American and Haiti. And what some may not know, Brooklyn has the most Haitian Americans out of the five boroughs. We need to come together and donate money to help the people in need. I made my donations today, and although it was only change (I'm kind of broke at the moment) it can really make a difference. Imagine if every one in the school only gave $.50 that would be about $1,350 from just Van Buren alone. The littliest things can make the biggest difference. While watching the news and reading the papers I learned that Obama contacted the Embassador of Haiti moments after the earthquake to let them know that he is going to send as much help as he can. What a great man he is:). I am actually reading his book (before he was president) and he is such a lovely man, but thats a topic for another time. Back to Haiti, for those who are planning to donate, be careful to what websites and numbers you are texting to, there are many scams that will take your money and do nothing with it. It is best to donate to a Red Cross organization, or bring money to a church that you know will send the money. Watching the destruction of Haiti is such a sad site to see. I seen a lady laying in a building waiting for medical attention, her foot was broken and her infant was laying next to her, dead. I really hope we get help out there asap, but I am proud of everyone acting so quickly, even the airlines which are letting doctors fly to Haiti for free. We can all help to turn this tragic situation around, so lets do it. Thats all for now, you'll hear more from me tomorrow.
